Fundamental Analyst

Seldon Capital is a San Francisco-based hedge fund advancing the craft of investing through deep fundamental research and machine learning. Role Summary

We are seeking a Fundamental Analyst to uncover deep value, special situations, and event-driven opportunities across global public equity and credit markets.

Responsibilities

• Generate original investment ideas by forecasting long-term business quality and inflection points

• Rapidly assess sectors and surface high-priority research questions

• Build and maintain financial models and total return frameworks

• Conduct deep industry analysis and primary diligence

• Identify undervalued or overlooked securities with asymmetric return profiles

• Monitor corporate actions, restructurings, and capital return strategies

• Contribute to team research discussions and the firm’s evolving investment theses

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier university

• Strong financial modeling and accounting fluency

• Investigative mindset with a bias toward original thinking and independent sourcing

• Self-directed, adaptable, and effective in an unstructured environment

• Experience with special situations (e.g., spinoffs, distressed, recapitalizations) is a plus

• Interest in forecasting (e.g., Good Judgment Project) or ML competitions (e.g., Kaggle) is a plus
